I had a magnetic sump plug fitted to the VXR. Was a pain to get back in, as the magnet was that strong it kept sticking to the sump unless it was aligned perfectly

I can imagine that can be a right arse 1 handed reaching underneath.

That does sound like a pain, but no one has mentioned that with these plugs. I guess a lot of sumps are alloy and some are now plastic, so the magnet wouldn't stick to those.

wander if these gold ones have the silly size thread like found on the 2.2 ?

They don't seem to do one for the Vectra VXR either... Gold Plug website says AP-08 (Saab 9-3 Aero), but the thread and size is wrong...
