cars looking good, nice to bring a car back from the clinches of death!

When my alternator died on the A34 I kept going as there were no decent places to stop, first of all power steering went then stereo and then every light started coming on car was fine enough maintaining speed it was only when I had to slow down due to traffic that it dropped down on the 3 cylinders and that's when I called it a day luckily 500m away was a decent layby so drove to that. AA man tested it at 9V's. car automatically cut the fuel back to match the weak spark so I think your problem will have come from else where as more fuel in the cylinder actually reduces the heat hence why running lean creates heat and high egt's

but then why would the 1 injector be spazzing its tits off ? its easy to test as it did it without the car running just with the ignition on and 9v
pretty sure it was not DET the piston is in normal condition on the top and the valves were black not white from any high temps
the guestimation was the fact fuel had washed the oil from the rings and bore causing the issues if the coil pack was not firing then it would just be dumping fuel down the exhaust
ive still to take the block apart for further judgment

in other news the car now has tax so i will start driving it after the weekend if dad dont pinch it from me :)

Won't be det as that only occurs when the afr is too lean, in your case you were just bore washing that one cylinder so no doubt oil was contaminated and stunk of fuel, the spark plug would of got soaked and stopped sparking. So either the oil has got so dilute that bearing number 4 (furthest away from pump) got a short supply of oil and span a shell and seized and snapped rod or that much fuel washing the bore may of removed all lube from cylinder walls and eventually piston got hot and rings expanded jamming the piston and snapping the rod.

No idea why the injector stuck open though, may have been faulty or got some s**t stuck in there.

It's not as likely as the injector was still stuck open and not failed totally, the amount of fuel from a stuck open injector would of kept that piston cool.

Hurry up and strip it down so we can see the damage :D (y)
