ERG valve elimination

Hi all, recently blanked off the EGR valve on a 2002 z22se , and I am getting the MIL . I am sick of cancelling it each time I come back from a drive, so , is there any way of shutting it off permanently ? I have used a blanking plate, and have attached the EGR valve to the plate, allowing it to hang out into the air. ( at least i know it works !)
I believe there used to be an " EGR cheater " available at some time, but I can't seem to find any mention of it lately.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated .....................
