Well after a year of ownership i finally got round to sorting out my gearbox issue, quick pm to Vocky and the exchange of some cash and i was the proud owner of a nearly new(5000 mile) diff.
It had been clunking, banging too long so it had to be changed, so today was the day.
So set about removing the old blighter, drain oil. drives shafts out, rear mount off, and n/s seal cap off and then a ring of bolts around the diff housing and it was out.
And what a mess it was, ws greeted to this( thank god for magnets built into slot in box)
Lots of iron filings/ chunks of gears attached to the magnet. so best check the diff itself.
Pretty f**ked in my opinion, how it was driving without screaming like a banshee i do not know,
No pics of fitting the new diff but it was all cleaned out, wiped clean, cleaned out again, and degreased and wiped clean and blown out with an airline just to be safe.
New diff fitted and jobs a good un.
Am gonna run it for week and the drain the oil out and replace it, just to be safe.
