as long as the cat is there it will pass the mot :) the silencer on the center is optional
it looks like you need to get a 5l tub of waxoil under there :)

13 years and 214000 miles hasn't been kind..... and I agree, I may have to get the car up on sticks and get cleaning/protecting.

Wonderful mod! Care to share the circuit diagram please? :)

Well reminded, I was going to tidy it up and post it, particularly as I'm happy it works as advertised. I'll get it sorted ;), or PM me and I'll email you it as it stands :).

Cheers,
Dave

Astra Day :D

A massive thanks to @paul_bunce for your hard work with practically everything today - Cheers mate :D.

So much was planned from the initial service & centre section exhaust replacement to the added throttle body clean, oil catch tank fit and air conditioning condenser replacement.

First up, the car prep'd for the oil drain and first stage of the service...

ai1342.photobucket.com_albums_o777_DaveOnePC_DSC_0548DaveOne_zps4f887739.jpg

Airbox removed...

ai1342.photobucket.com_albums_o777_DaveOnePC_DSC_0549DaveOne_zps9c39d948.jpg

And thought it may as well be de-restricted...

ai1342.photobucket.com_albums_o777_DaveOnePC_DSC_0551DaveOne_zps5a52e447.jpg

Throttle body clean next and this is what 215000 miles does...

ai1342.photobucket.com_albums_o777_DaveOnePC_DSC_0553DaveOne_zpse05f1696.jpg

Nice and clean :)...

ai1342.photobucket.com_albums_o777_DaveOnePC_DSC_0562DaveOne_zps32e6899c.jpg

This is the culprit, the crankcase oil vapour relief, clearly showing the vapourised and condensated oil...

ai1342.photobucket.com_albums_o777_DaveOnePC_DSC_0558DaveOne_zpsa3d93490.jpg

Oil catch tank in place awaiting the hose, it'll be here real soon and will help keep my Throttle Body clean...

ai1342.photobucket.com_albums_o777_DaveOnePC_DSC_0566DaveOne_zps2962d9b5.jpg

The spark plugs appeared to be in good shape :)...

ai1342.photobucket.com_albums_o777_DaveOnePC_DSC_0555DaveOne_zps07587b1c.jpg

To complete the service I fitted a magnetic oil drain plug...

Astra Day part 2

I have been missing my air conditioning lately and finally got around to doing the Air Con radiation/condenser change with new seals...

ai1342.photobucket.com_albums_o777_DaveOnePC_DSC_0567DaveOne_zps13741a87.jpg

The centre section exhaust had become a necessity to change and had given up in the long wait for the parts and extra week to find the time. This is complete failure but I want a stainless steel this time so had to wait a little...

ai1342.photobucket.com_albums_o777_DaveOnePC_DSC_0569DaveOne_zps9654d75f.jpg

The old system...

ai1342.photobucket.com_albums_o777_DaveOnePC_DSC_0570DaveOne_zpsb3112fd8.jpg

Irmscher Double D flange removed to use a sleeve joiner :)...

ai1342.photobucket.com_albums_o777_DaveOnePC_DSC_0571DaveOne_zpseab3c695.jpg

The centre section needed removing next...

ai1342.photobucket.com_albums_o777_DaveOnePC_DSC_0574DaveOne_zps1c9d59f7.jpg

Side-by-side...

ai1342.photobucket.com_albums_o777_DaveOnePC_DSC_0578DaveOne_zps13589082.jpg

Irmscher Double D fitting better now :)...

ai1342.photobucket.com_albums_o777_DaveOnePC_DSC_0579DaveOne_zpse0cab481.jpg

And the profusion joiner (a lovely piece of kit :) )...

Last exhaust pic...

ai1342.photobucket.com_albums_o777_DaveOnePC_DSC_0582DaveOne_zpsb16ca16c.jpg

The wife reckons the exhaust is too noisey - unlucky... lol.

To complete the day when I got home I took time out to replace the pollen filter...

Oil Catch Tank fully fitted

I thought I'd include some better pics of the bracket for the Oil Catch Tank. The black bracket directly attached to the Oil Catch Tank was included but @paul_bunce quickly set about the adaption bracket to ensure the most convenient fitment :)...

aimg819.imageshack.us_img819_3397_ttzn.jpg

aimg823.imageshack.us_img823_5838_zzyh.jpg

The breather pipe between the crankcase cover and the air inlet can be seen clearly in this pic...

aimg842.imageshack.us_img842_5188_gjhx5.jpg

I'm not convinced by the silicon pipe and have considered this a temporary fix until I can get some braided hose, however, it does the job :)...

Logitech DiNovo Mini Keyboard

Car PC time again..... For a while I have wanted a small wireless keyboard to stow more easily. After researching a while back I decided on a Logitech DiNovo Mini Wireless. It was just a case of waiting for the sun, moon and stars to align on eBay :).

Here's the Amazon image of the keyboard...

aimagizer.imageshack.us_v2_xq90_673_f84405.jpg

And here are some of the bits...

aimagizer.imageshack.us_v2_xq90_661_1e2158.jpg

Here's the little fella :)...

aimagizer.imageshack.us_v2_xq90_540_c018ea.jpg

And here it is stowed in the fuse box cubby...

The wireless transmitter/receiver is installed in the USB hub in the glove box and the range is more than adequate.

GSi/coupe interior lamp fitted
I originally changed my standard interior lamp to a Vectra B smoked interior lamp but wasn't all that keen on it.
View attachment 36865
The GSi/coupe interior lamp was easy enough to install as I already had the ignition live feed from the cigarette lighter and up the A-pillar. I little searching on AOC gave me the necessay connections, particularly for the map reading light to work.
The GSi/coupe interior lamp fitted.
View attachment 36867
I wasn't keen on the colour of the bulbs, especially after the effort with the externally HIDs and number plate bulb. Light on.
View attachment 36870
I fitted white LED 501 bulbs. Combination shot.....
View attachment 36872
Complete change. Interior light on.

Map reading lights on.

Next up is the GSi rear interior lamp :).

Hey, could you please share the wiring diagram for this lamp? I have bought the lamp but no idea about the wiring as I had only two wires on old lamp, no idea from where and what needs to be added.
Thanks for your help in advance!
