Strange, so how do you think it needs changed then? It must be making a noise for you to be concerned about it. Mine makes a rattle from cold some times like a slack chain, it's ok most of the time though. Is yours doing this?

No you dont need a locking kit, you do need a decent socket set, torx set, knuckle bar, axle stands, trolley jack. Thats all, no specialist tools needed.

its only done it today it sounds like you turn the key to much but after about 20 secs the noise is gone the car is fine apart from that

Changing the chain is an easy job its just time consuming as you have to take so much else off for access and even then access is quite restrictive.

You shouldnt have any chain noise. The oil nozzle instantly should lube your chain on start up anything else would damage chain. Mine is silent now, before it sounded like a diesel, initially only for 10 or 20 secs, but got worse.

Listen, the thing to watch out for is noise every time you start up, dont drive off till its gone, if it stays noisy switch off and dont use till sorted as you risk it snapping.

If it starts getting noisy for longer each time, the same dont use your motor.

When mine got bad I wasnt aware of the chain issues and listening to the engine I initially thought just the water pump bearings had gone. The only real way of checking the chain is to take off the timing cover by which point your more or less half way through the time it would take to actually change it.

Has your new engine got the modified kit already in, has it got the slits in the tensioner as in marks photos.

Good Luck bazastra.

You should get it done even if the warranty is out, as you have full history. I had mine done with the car one year outside the warranty, all for a big fat nothing.

what even if its not a full vauxhall sevice history? ive just sent an email to the place were i purchased the car not a very nice one either

surely if the new engine has only done 6000 miles the chain shouldn't snap so soon, come on these chains are meant to last the life of the engine.

don't think i've heard of one snapping with such low miles on but it's still worth getting it checked just incase.

good luck mate.

Keep an eye on it mate, mine was like that, every time I took it to the dealer it did not do it. As soon as they did hear it tho they would not let me take the car away.
