2 engines same mod no problem there's actually little difference with or without them on idle running

I'll be using the bottom end from my old engine if I do it which still has the shafts in. Spoke to Andrews Precision today and thing I'll have the crank and pistons dynamically balanced first. If their miles out then that's the problem. It may simply be the new clutch is pants!

Been seriously thinking about doing this myself recently the more i read about it . Should have done it last year when i had the engine out . But its messages like @cavaddict that put me off . It does seem more and more people are doing it though. What does anyone think is up with cavaddict car is it something unrelated to cutting the balance shafts that makes his car run rough. Doing it Burt 150 method holesaw on inside legs then weld them up again afterwards. seems as though it will save hours of work

Good to hear pottsey will probably do it anyway and if anything goes wrong will look for someone else to blame it on

mine are coming out very soon, if anything can go wrong im sure it will with me. :(
If all goes well and I have enough time to make a trip to the dyno before the charger goes on I will and post before and after results. (y)

Vocky did mine some years back had no issues done easy 18k since it was done. Just like standard idle just seemed to rev easier up the rev range.

Yes, this may well be something else causing the vibration on my engine. It has had a complete new clutch and a Courtnay lightened flywheel too but i'd be more inclined to point the finger at the clutch based on the response from this thread. Will pull the engine, get my old crank fitted with Courtnay flywheel and the old pressure plate, send the lot off to Andrews so i'll know for sure everything is spot on. Then hopefully it'll be sorted......hope so cos it pulls like a train!

Take it you've used Andrews then :) Ive rung a few places who are a lot more local to me but i have to admit i was impressed by Andrews attitude to the work involved. This bottom end had a balance delete kit already fitted when i bought it, unusual to see a kit fitted but that was the only good thing about it, the previous owner had also fitted the big end caps on backwards! Needless to say i changed the pistons & rods ( yh ones for slighty higher compression ).

done at Andrews Precision i'm not far from worcester so went up and saw him hes a sound bloke and the prices are right well there better than right there brilliant :)
i took him the forged rods and pistons and watched him do the work he weight matched the pistons in 5mins and then balanced the rods end to end in 10mins great to watch he liked my clutch a lot to :)

there are at least 50 engines in the UK with the balancer delete, not heard a single complaint yet. I know some of them have done well over 25000 miles too.

Stripped down the old engine today as i know the crank is good and have recovered the pressure plate from the scrap pile as i know that was good too. Based on the response on here, i'll rebuild the bottom end with the balance delete kit in it, but using my known good bits and also have it balanced. Thanks guys

Out of interest, what sort of price did the knife edging cost? Been quoted £120+VAT for the full balance, but whilst its there........ ;)
