Z22YH air leaking back through inlet manifold

I am actually wondering if this could be related to my lumpy idle which has got abit better since the chains were done but still room for improvement, if the car is started from cold the engine fires up fine, if the car is re-started from warm (from a longer journey) the engine starts with abit of a clatter and almost like a backfire from the rear and at the same time you can hear a sort of swoosh sound from the front as if someone had just pressed the butterfly open on the throttle by hand, any ideas ? thanks

try some brake cleaner, spray it around the inlet gasket - if the revs increase then you have a leak

Hi, do you mean spray around the whole manifold or around the throttle body part of the inlet? Ta
I think he means where the inlet manifold would meet the cylinder head around that area. You could check around throttle body area also, even check for loose bolts.
