the 'useless' uprated clutch cover sits closer to the block (cos it's s**te) so that required the 17mm spacer

Sorry for thew thread resurrection.

Were the problems you had with the clutch cover due to the different gear box, or the parts inherent s**te-ness Vocky?

I only ask as I'm contemplating a lightened flywheel and "uprated" clutch from Courtenays whilst its in for the CS5.

it was 100% the clutch cover, it was a useless piece of s**te.

The courtenay + tms clutches do seem ok but make sure you get the matching slave cylinder too.

I made the mistake of buying from an 'unknown' clutch manufacturer who specialise in 'one off' clutches, only because Helix were unable to supply me at the time. Helix clutches are first class quality by the way.

This arrived this morning :D but it doesn't have the info marked on it as per the above image.

it will be there, use a wire brush :)

I will be updating this thread over the winter as you can now get a 2.2 M32 flywheel, which I will be fitting along with the matching clutch cover when I fit the corsa vxr internal gears - 4.17 final drive ratio

Brushed it back, nothing there, must of been made on a friday afternoon.

Will be intrested in how you get on with the new setup, will it be a lightened flywheel?

vocky

Staff
yes it's a lightened M32 z22se flywheel, but they are made to order (just a different hole pattern to the z20le*), so got to wait for it to be made.....

for an astra it will be the same as if doing the conversion on a turbo, so just swap the flywheel and clutch, then bolt the box on.

No slave cylinder spacer required :)

really thats good. why is it different on the VX then?
aint it pretty much the same layout inside or not?
i wonder does the m32 box bolt on the LET? would have thought so but just checking, couold be another idea for me :D

you will still need the astra H M32 z20lel/ler/cdti 120 driveshafts and gear linkage/lever assembly, but thats a straight fit on the astra G :)

the vx220 will need the lotus driveshafts + gear linkage or modify the linkage like my set up and the astra H M32 z20lel/ler/cdti 120 driveshafts can also be made to fit the vx220

you use the M32 slave cylinder, the M32 z22se lightened flywheel, the z22se cover plate and either a Helix z22se M32 disc or TTv Racing M32 sprung disc

today I bought yet another M32 gearbox :wtf:

this time it's a corsa vxr 4.17 M32 from a smashed car - even had to hoover off the glass fragments

just need the z22se M32 TTV flywheel and then I will swap the internals :D

ps; I had the box stripped within 45 minutes of it arriving

Ah, I'd like these ones so much... so basically needs a Z22YH Vectra gearbox housing + corsa VXR internals ?

Still does not sound easy to find

vocky

Staff
you would need a z22yh M32 gearbox and a corsa vxr 4.17 M32 gearbox, then swap over the internals (y)

corsa vxr gearbox will cost about £350
z22yh gearbox probably a similar price, but much harder to find :(

The number one thing that stops me going any further with my engine is the standard gearbox.

Seems pointless creating a rev monster when most of the advantage gets wasted by taller than necessary gearing.

One long straight in a Honda type R proves what carefully chosen ratios can do for a good NA engine. (y)

Sadly, lack the talent to do this conversion myself and the funds to pay someone else to do it :(

update;

you can now buy a z22se M32 lightened flywheel from TTV Racing £228 +vat

this means the slave cylinder does not now need any spacers, so simply fit the z22se M32 flywheel, Helix M32 sprung clutch plate (TTV can also supply a M32 sprung clutch plate), z22se clutch cover and the M32 gearbox with standard M32 slave cylinder.

makes the conversion a nut and bolt job :D
