I figured it out! On the layshaft the gears after the spacer were pressed on the wrong way around. So I pressed them out flipped them the other way, and pressed them on again. This gave me the clearance for the uprated bearing and the bolt I needed. The bolt is tightened at the end and the...
When you upgraded the late end case with bigger bearings did you have to leave out the retaining screw on the input shaft?
I pressed the larger bearing on the input shaft and it is sticking half way out from the shaft. If I fit that retaining screw, the new end case would not close.
Main shaft (A) maximum permited clearance 0.10 mm - subtract from the reading taken previously using the feeler gauge.
Lay shaft (B) add the maximum pre-loading of 0.20 mm to the reading taken previously by the feeler gauge.
Second lay shaft (C) add the maximum pre-loading of 0.30 mm to the...
Ok, thanks for the info. Got a quote from GM for the tool....(hold on to your seat)......650 pounds. What a joke....
So I have decided to use good old plasti-gauge instead.
Sorry, it is the wrong tool. Looks similar but it is the wrong one. I did some heavy research and found out that the tool code is DT-60000-120 Kent-Moore.
I have tried to get the Opel dealership to sell it to me but they seem to be a bit difficult.
Gonna send a request for quotation to...

I will also try and get the new version of the end case with improved oil flow. The uprated bearings aren't...
Thanks for the tip Carl! Looks like I'll need to rebuild the gearbox after all.... How did you manage to measure the correct shims for the shafts without special GM tools? I know some workshops use special measuring "pipes" from Kent Moore that they put on top of the shafts. Have no idea where...
what is the trick of getting the thickness of shim for M32 diff right? I have rebuilt the diff and measured the gap between the flange and the bearing surface by using a feeler gauge. Thought the gap should be 0.15 mm +-.05mm
However, I can hear a slight whining noise starting around 50 mph...
