Is this how Positive Crankcase Ventilation works on the Z22SE?

Great info above guys :) I'm interested in blanking off the EGR and bypassing the pre-throttle breather hose to stop the throttle body gunking up. If I did the EGR blank (keeping it connected electrically) would it be okay to connect a hose from the cam cover to the EGR pipework? Obviously cut...

B6s are supposed to go with shorter springs, the B4s are a replacement for OE dampers :)

    Oil pump seal

See that's exactly what I mean :) didn't help I was cleaning parts as I went - the inner CV joint boot had split and been replaced, however the garage didn't bother to wipe down the back of the engine or any of the engine bay where the grease had been flung. Bit of a mess... Or it was anyway... ;)

    Oil pump seal

Back home now after a good couple of days doing the work and triple checking everything before putting it all back together. Car is running fine with no issues! Taking off engine parts that hadn't been disturbed since it rolled out the factory in 2003 was fun, with the occasional stiff...

Right new Z20NET tensioner removed, pressed against a big bit of wood then reinstalled, now activated :)

    Oil pump seal

Okay guys... today's question is... what is the best way to install the new style timing tensioner? I've heard of "activating it prior to installation" but I couldn't see it doing anything like the older tensioner did. Pressing on the tensioner rail after installing didn't seem to make much...

    Oil pump seal

Thanks Dave - that's to protect against stripping the threads isn't it? Couldn't remember where I'd heard about the brake cleaner but I did get some.

    Oil pump seal

Well tomorrow will see the new waterpump installed, along with the new thermostat and new timing and balance chains - along with new gaskets and bolts everywhere. At this moment I'll say thanks to everyone who has offered support and advice on this thread so far - cheers all!

    Oil pump seal

Right got the bastid off... Trolley jack & big spanner to lock the pulley, and a massive long blast with the impact gun got it moving. Now it's the fun of that long bolt in the timing case, trying to carefully lower the engine without crushing the power steering pipes against the subframe...

    Oil pump seal

Afternoon folks - well it's been a windy and fun day stripping bits off to do the chains and the waterpump and the thermostat etc... Can anyone advise a way to get the crank pulley off as the bolt seems to be a tad stuck?? It's been hit with a 240V impact driver without any luck. Biggest...

    Oil pump seal

Cheers Vocky - the biggest problem I'm having with arranging this job is being 2 1/2 hours away from the car, so I'll need to make sure I take everything when I go :) Last thing I need to check is... what size of socket are you using to install the oil seal, or do you have the GM tools? From...

    Oil pump seal

Didn't get a chance to phone and confirm the details of the uber cheap pump, so ended up going for the Autovaux one. Also ordered a new thermostat plus a load of new o-rings, gaskets etc, there goes another pile of pennies... For the o-rings on the water pump pipe, does it have to be a silicon...

VECTRA C 2.2 TURBO SRI 16VALVE 250/60BHP (rolling road to let me know soon)

VECTRA C 2.2 TURBO SRI 16VALVE 250/60BHP (rolling road to let me know soon)

How about a 1-way valve in that EVAP line? That way the fumes will be drawn into the inlet manifold under deceleration and avoids compressing air and fumes by going pre-turbo?

    Oil pump seal

It's less than half the price of one from Autovaux! http://www.autovaux.co.uk/product/93178602-pumpwater.aspx That's what got me wondering... what's the old adage of if it seems too good to be true, it usually is?? Nothing against VCP, I have no dealings with them etc, just very curious. They...

    Oil pump seal

Opinions on this please guys, the price almost seems too good to be true?? http://www.vauxhall-car-parts.co.uk/acatalog/VAUXHALL_WATER_PUMP._-_93178602.html It matches the part number as per the post above (checked the engine number with my Dad and it's a 1123****, so well within the first range).

    Oil pump seal

Thanks Pete - my Dad's had the car from new (53 plate) so it's always had VX servicing by the book. I'm hoping for a similar story when I get the car in bits... :nailbiting:
