UPDATE! made a earth lead from a old jump lead although it wasn't the thickest & fitted the new starter and after all that its no different. i've got a tester now and checked voltage from lead on alternator to earth on battery and came out as 2 volts, is this new alternator time or still...

right... done a reading from the live at alternator & neg at battery, the lead is now disconnected from all of it & just wired to battery at present but the test was 12.2v, not sure if it matters that its not connected but i took it as below.. now about having a new earth made up, is it just a...

right.... after a big flash from arc'ing the termanals on the starter with a racket cause i forgot about the battery as it was dead i got another ordered and started the removal of the old & the wiring earlier, i got the old one off & exposed all the wiring, i'm not sure if to fit it all back...

thanks daz, in a way i've done that with the audio 0 gauge earth lead which i did, i've trying the car today after a good charge up also by jumping the car off mine but nothing, just the starter motor clicking. now with the possable problem, when i added the extra earth lead (only audio one)...

i'll try daz when i get the power in the battery again, will be tomorrow now as had enough. i don't have a multimeter as of yet, all i have is a battery charger that shows the volts, charging at the battery was 12.5v but when i managed to get a small jump lead on the starter motor it showed...

Sounds like the same mate, wife went out this morning with no problem as I put a fully charged battery on last night then this afternoon went to get fuel & she had too ask for a jump start to leave!

hi all, thought i'd rack all your brains as mine are mashed! its a Z22SE in a astra convertible and all started 4-5 months ago with what i thought was a flat battery so it was changed and all was well until a week or so later, i did put the old battery on charge which is still a great battery...

hi guys, thanks for your help, hes now informed me its the 2.2 direct engine not the Z22SE but just said to him to check it all out first with compression test, and give the engine a good going over, he's looking into another engine i think just in case even tho i think thats abit extreme so...

hi all, just a quick one, a freind has a 2.2 thats overheating alot, don't think its thermostat, could it be the head gasket at all? any other ideas? thanks guys!

is it right that theres a blacking plate in the astra head that just needs transfering?

oh right, its coming back to me abit now johnny, as soon as i read that i remember reading it before! so the vectra cam can stay and put a gasket sealant on the plate and fit it? which plate is it johnny? a GM part? thanks
