how many miles do you get to a tank of fuel..?
My Z22yh vec estate is drinking fuel like water....
So pretty much all my travel is motorway miles doing 80 miles a day round trip to and from work... since I last filled up I have covered 180 miles and that’s used up 3/4 of a tank of fuel... I don’t hammer it normally stick to 75/80 under 3000 rpm...
last week I had engine management light on which flagged a few codes ...
I changed the Front lambda and the mas air flow on the air intake with new parts .. however the engine light kept coming on...
so I checked the swirl flap and it seem to be a bit stiff but after a bit of gentle persuasion it seem to move back and forth and engine management light went out and has Not come back on since...
but still drinking fuel.. I know swirlflaps can be a problem..
I will change the cts as I know this can have an effect too... I have also noticed my temp gauge only ever goes up to 85 never in the middle at 90... I have a feeling my header tank has a crack so guess I’m loosing pressure there stopping it getting up to the correct temp , and I’ve had to top up the coolant a few times, would the fact it’s not the correct temp have an impact?.. however I don’t seem to be leaking water externally.... I changed both chains a couple of months ago with genuine parts so I know their ok.. and tyre pressures are ok too .
car dose seem a bit sluggish.. not as snappy as it once was it’s covered 12700
Any other things I can look at ... I do have a spare egr valve second hand .. would that make any difference if I swop it over?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated ...

Im having same issues bud. Im getting 170 miles to a tank in my coupe. After having opcom on it and talked through live data reading by evocarlos my front lambda is goosed and as a result my fuel trim is way way high which im told its not ment tk be. But before that i changed cts, mainfold and even tried bp super unleaded just to rule out bad fuel. I recommend u get opcom on the car and see if your lambda sensors are ok as mine hasnt kicked the eml on and its failed.

what were the codes from the eml it will tell you exactly what's at fault
both the z22yh's ive had/got do 50+mpg on a run

Sorry for the late reply gents....
the car had engine light on not elm...
codes from what I remember were for lambda, which I changed then air flow ... which I changed for a new one but engine light never went out until I messed around with swirl flap mech.... which did seem a bit stiff ....
