    Z22SE A Common OIL leak

Hopefully someone can assist. I have a similar problem with my Z20LEH engine, but more noticeable than yours in that it maintains for a few seconds. I notice it most pulling up at traffic lights. Strangely it returns to idle more quickly if the A/C is on and loading the engine. I have cleaned...

    Z22SE A Common OIL leak

Do you mean the engine maintains the revs when you take your foot off the throttle when you change gears?

Auto for manual in Astra G

Thinking of swapping the 5 speed for an AF22 auto in a 2002 Astra convertible. I have a wreck with all the parts but what mods are required in the ECU setup with Opcom??

    Bench testing the alternator

Well I'm giving up on this. Went to another auto electrician and he also said it's a regulator that is controlled by the ECU and can't be bench tested by normal means. I said it's 2002 model not 2018 - I know a lot of the latest cars are ECU controlled alternators (for fuel economy they say, but...

    Bench testing the alternator

And I will test for drain on the battery thanks OB ONE, but the engine is out at the moment to replace the dreaded rear crankshaft seal. I hope that fixes the oil leak, and it's not blowby and excessive sump pressurisation which this old engine suffers from.

    Bench testing the alternator

Thanks Evocarlos. I could not believe it was not possible to bench test, however, one tends to treat these guys as the experts. Can you please explain what the connections to the two auxiliary terminals are when under bench test? I can't see from the picture although it appears to be a loop...

    Bench testing the alternator

Hi, Help required please! 2003 Astra G with Z22SE. Low volts from the alternator, like 11.5V at the battery but maybe up to 13.5V driving. But regardless the current is not sufficient to keep the charge in the battery so it slowly goes flat after a few days driving, and although a new battery...

    AOC Dead?

Thanks vocky. At least it's not my gear playing up. A lot of great info stashed in with the prattle, would be pity to see it lost!!

    AOC Dead?

Not sure where to put this but please move to where ever it should be. I can no longer log into Astra Owners Club. Is it dead or maybe just some setting in my anti-virus gone crazy Thanks

    Z22SE A Common OIL leak

unit removed is part number #24577642 with another number 0632 (date code??) which appears to be a common part across a range of engines. Anyway if it looks like your starter motor has sprung a big leak, it's not a hole punched in the side of your block, just that pressure switch!

    Z22SE A Common OIL leak

I bought another Z22SE cheapie (always a Convertible for me) with most of the common issues expected at 230k Km, cam chains rattling, oil leaking, foggy headllights, buggared roof latches etc. but it drove ok from the Gold Coast to North of Brisbane after topping up oil, air and water. Even the...

Cloyes timing and balance chain kits

Thanks Evo. Think I probably screwed it in with the socket by hand, and maybe pushed the seal down :( I wondered about fitting activated but was not game to try it. The Cloyes install video seems adamant but I will bow to your experiance. And you answered another question - it's called a Doughty...

Cloyes timing and balance chain kits

I've used a few "Cloyes" kits from the states. Only complaint so far is the tensioner, which has twice let me down and leaked oil. Meaning pull the tensioner out and take the bloody cam cover off again to set the tensioner. First one I managed to goo up satisfactorily, but on the second the...

Internal diameter of main water hose

Seems the Astra 2.2L bottom hose is not available (at least here in Aus but I don't see any in the UK Ebay either). I guess it's such a beast that other manufacturers are not interested . Has anyone found a "simple" work around perhaps using other hoses? Thanks
