Been motoring for over 20 years now and for the first time ever I have stayed with the same insurance company. Yes the premium has gone up but a surf around found that all insurance companys seemed to have bumped there prce up.
Went from £250 - £320 still a happy chappy though...

Sadly yes. I had a major humdinger with Elephant over just the same issue. Some numpty turned left across my path and ripped my bumper off and they wanted me to pay the excess.

I got my bits (rings, head gasket and bolts) from redmans engine servives. Again on flea bay but I delt direct and they were very helpfull and able to deliver next day by 11am!

Piston Oil Controll Rings and/or Valve stem oil seal's. Either way when ANY engine starts glugging the slippery stuff it means only one thing.

You need B+E on your licence if memory serves me correct.
Unless you have had training and a test after passing your initial driving test you are unable to tow legaly.
Paid £146 for head gasket,bolts and rings last week when I done mine.
Took me 2-5hrs to strip engine on first afternoon then spent a few hours with a bottle of wine cleaning the pistons (wine was for drinking!). Best way to clean a piston ring grove is with the old rings, snap one and use it...
I've got 3 I would have given you just to clear my tool box out.
Nice easy job doing the pistons once the heads off, just buzz loads of bolts off to drop the sump and theres the big end caps staring at you.
I think it is safe to say that your engine is "Mechanicly Tired" (Thats F**ked to you and me!)
Makes me think that she was driven through a ford of some flood water causing the engine to hydrulic and expire.
Whats the head like? Or have you yet to get it off?
Auto engines are even easier! 3 bolts hold the torque converter on and away you go! The auto fly wheel is only about 20-30 mm so very little jiggling needed to pop the lump.
When I pulled mine I had the head off already but when I fitted it the head was on. Left exhaust manifold in the bay just...
