    Chris Knott Insurance

Sadly yes. I had a major humdinger with Elephant over just the same issue. Some numpty turned left across my path and ripped my bumper off and they wanted me to pay the excess. Deal direct with the other guys insurance company. When I did they looked at his discription "I was in the right hand...

Timing chain tensioner problem - started with rattling noise

Nope. You need to align the Crank with a mark on the chain so front cover off I'm afraid. Dont let it worry you, it aint that bad a job.

    Concerned !

Z22SE using oil? Piston Oil Controll Rings and/or Valve stem oil seal's. Either way when ANY engine starts glugging the slippery stuff it means only one thing. A BIG BILL.

    Towing a trailer

You need B+E on your licence if memory serves me correct. Unless you have had training and a test after passing your initial driving test you are unable to tow legaly.

lots of smoke after cam chain jump and bent valves

My thoughts exactly after doing rings on my car.

where is all the oil going after replacing chain?

Paid £146 for head gasket, bolts and rings last week when I done mine. Took me 2-5hrs to strip engine on first afternoon then spent a few hours with a bottle of wine cleaning the pistons (wine was for drinking!). Best way to clean a piston ring grove is with the old rings, snap one and use it...

lots of smoke after cam chain jump and bent valves

I've got 3 I would have given you just to clear my tool box out. Nice easy job doing the pistons once the heads off, just buzz loads of bolts off to drop the sump and theres the big end caps staring at you.

not a happy chappy severe engine failure

Con rod snapping would not be related to the chain being done. Sorry but looks like your stuck with a goosed engine and not a leg to stand on.

    bottom end locked up

At least you got a new chain for your rebuild!

    bottom end locked up

I think it is safe to say that your engine is "Mechanicly Tired" (Thats F**ked to you and me!) Makes me think that she was driven through a ford of some flood water causing the engine to hydrulic and expire. Whats the head like? Or have you yet to get it off?

    how to remove engine

Auto engines are even easier! 3 bolts hold the torque converter on and away you go! The auto fly wheel is only about 20-30 mm so very little jiggling needed to pop the lump. When I pulled mine I had the head off already but when I fitted it the head was on. Left exhaust manifold in the bay just...
