Update .. I tried to get the end cap off but it would budge. Have since discovered a video in Greek? .. that shows its held by a circlip. No wonder it wouldn't budge. At 12:09 here. If I do this again , the kit contains the rubber cap so ill fill it that way.
There's a couple of disassembly video's on YouTube here and here
Well... it didn't. Lasted two days and then crapped out. It wasn't the new parts though. They were fine and all looked good. It leaked half the oil out of the round casing at the bottom of the fuel pump. probably happened when I...
Well ... So I was cruising Aliexpress , as you do, and I came across a repair kit for the Z22YH fuel pump... Its listed here. If its gone look for 93174538
For 25NZD (8 quid) including free shipping , I though , I know its fake, probably rubbish but for s**ts and giggles lets see what its like...
So I've seen mention of an alternative replacement of the z22yh fuel pump mentioned on a couple of sites. I hadn't given it much thought because I don't need one but thought I might put this here so other might pick it up.
So I found this page from a Russian guy with, what I assume, is a test...
Not sure about putting it in the oil , but go and google outboard carbon cleaner. There's whole bunch of products used by outboard engines to specifically tackle carbon build ups. I've used the yamaha products with great success.
Subaru make, and recommend, and upper cylinder cleaner. Recommended usage is every other service. I've used it before with old plugs and they come out sparklingly clean. Just unload the can into a running engine. Be aware if you use it during the day the neighbours will think your house is on...
So as a follow up, Took the head back to the machine shop where they agreed that there was p**s poor sealing on one and three exhaust. They pulled the valves but they were not bent, nothing wrong with them. Much scratching of heads ensued and turns out the FAI lifters were s**t. Swapped all...
Put the recon head on and slipped tightening the exhaust cam sprocket , I think i whacked a couple of valves and the chain jumped..

I'm pulling the chains to set them all up again but not hopeful.
Nope. Redid the chains , set them all up and...
I don't think that's it. The cable is too short and the wrong shape. Ive got the cable for the CTS coming from round the front and plugged in as per this pic (not my picture but same engine)
So we but the Astra back together but its not starting and the fan is coming on immediately. Its throwing a coolant sensor error as well. I suspect the coolant error is something to do with this 'spare' plug but for the life of us we cant figure where it goes. Anybody got any ideas.
So I've got the head back from the machine shop and they took the injector assembly off but the rubber O-ring ripped out on one. I've got the refurb kit on order as suggested. Its somewhere at Auckland airport at the moment so I might get it this week !
Anyways whats the best way to reassemble...
So thanks to al the previous posters , the heads in the shop getting fixed, the sumps off and all the sludge removed but after its dried there is a fine coating of what i can only describe as a fine brown 'sand or grit' coating everything. Its pretty well stuck on. Petrol didn't remove it so its...
