so here is my 6 speed conversion adventure it will take a while but i now have the box and shafts
time to get the clutch changed and the attaching parts to make it work

thanks to 20vt for the box :)

removing the engine and gearbox the technical way

got the box on the bench to inspect the outer bearings and the diff planetary shafts Daz knows about this :)

case looks good no damage to the alloy case at all and the bearing faces look good

one bearing is showing some signs of wear but not that much
all the gears look good and the magnet don't have much on it

outer case got cleaned with bilberry wheel cleaner

the progress will be slow on this one but hope to have it fitted to the car before the engine get put back together :)

yes matt :) im eating my own words lol but i know that with a astra vxr/vectra c gearstick and astra vxr cables it will fit :)

good work. be good to have the taller top gear. (y)
any corsa d 6speed cables should fit not just vxr, more chance of getting s/h set.

ok i got it now
timken are the originals that fail more often with the metal cage
the SNR are the upgrade with the plastic cage and bigger race

it also looks like there is a case mod to combat the oil starved bearing

i called my local machine shop and arranged to have the case acid dipped and cleaned up the same way i have the heads done :)
had to strip all the parts from the case for a proper job
