Front Splitter, Worth it or Not?

I would say from what I've seen it definitely improves the looks of the car, but does it acturally help with the performance of the car? Also I live in a town with a stupid amount of speed bumps, with that in mind would it just be more trouble than its worth?

Hey what happened to the bit under our names that says what car we have?

Irmscher splitter on a coupe bumper.
I removed it from the post bit information in this theme. It's still viewable on your profile page though:

We are pretty tight for space, and some people have quite long sentences in there, so it spills over onto several lines when in the post bit section.

Got the splitter on my coupe and my coupe dropped on its ass as well. Speed bumps not an issue clear them no probs all i hear catching now and then is the exhaust. All I recommend is watch out for rolling front end into kerbs if your astra is lowered as it will hit the kerb. As i found out when i left my car to get mot'd and the tester rollled the car into the kerb when parking it up in the car park and chipped the splitter and broke 2 of the bumper mounts (Got a cheque for £250 as couldn't be repaired GSI BUMPER MONEY :D).

You can see it doesn't look like i got much ground clearance , but I've never worried about speed bumps and I got them awful full length of the road style speed bumps as well in my village. Hope this helped bud. Plus when i see a standard front end of a coupe, I always think the spiltter makes a hell of a diference

With help from my mate when I got the car we took the bumper off (I supervised), then cut the plastics off in the bottom to open up the area and then fixed the black mesh on the inside of the bumper. It took around 2hrs to do. At first I was like aaww s**t what have I done. But when we refitted the bumper it did look good.

It looks better than the plastic anyway, so did you need to do any sanding or respraying?
I still undecided to go with the splitter or GSI bumper?

Just sanded back the rough edges after cutting the plastic out. Did have a couple of marks on the inside of bumper. But used a touch up pen and u cant see it behind the mesh. Splitter option nice cheap mod, but the gsi or full irmscher front bumpers are best look on mk4. I'm after gsi bumper but waiting for a gm to come on ebay as I dont want a crap fibreglass copy. But looking at £250-£300 when one comes on.

need the money to get the car finished i do like the gsi bumper :)
the gsi bumper i have has the front grill cut out so needs meshing like yours i was going to use the cut out to my advantage and fit a larger charge cooler but the one i want won't fit
now the bumpers on the car and i measured it up :(

Aaww bummer :( Would the original grills not just go back in? Positive they just clip in and u can buy them. As some rogues take them out the bumpers and sell them separate to make more dollars. Bloody rogues. Its a real shame tho, I was looking forward to seeing the charger sitting they on show

i have the grills as i have 2 gsi bumpers :) but this one on the car is the better one but has the plastic cut out to take a cheapo ebay fmic the hole is about 1" biger than the grill all the way round would look fine with mesh like yours but i would put the gsi style mesh in

i will see what happens theres still so much work to do just even before i can take it for a proper tune lol the charge cooler rad will prolly end up being the smaller size one but its £180

Suppose as long as you can get everything set up for the SC, the bumper is the sort of thing that can then wait.
