YAAAAAAAY! i finally got it back last night, had to sit through a 2 hour chat on safety eyc which woulda been a lot quicker without all the war stories but hey ho!

still its a lovely job doesnt make my engine bay look too untidy and the only fault ive found is ive had to file a corner of a fuel rail as it hit a bonnet rib when changing from drive to reverse.

its amazing how it works (and very simple) the gas ecu just piggybacks off your factory maps and adjustments are made to suit gas injectors instead. when mine changes over it shuts one injector down at a time swaqpping for a gas injector then all the way along for the 6 injectors. other than a slight difference in idle tone (and youd need to know what your listening for too!) for about 2 secs youd never know.
on the whole i dont notice any power lack, its great, takes around a mile in the morning to change over.

ill get some pics up later.:)

heres some pics as promised!:)

i dont know why i opted for the cylinder other than where i preferred the wieght to be.

now to pick the brains of lpg enthusiasts!!

i dont think i listened well enough during my ramble...... sorry new lpg talk, i think i was supposed to wait for the tank to empty and swithc back to petrol before i refuelled why? (i may have got bored trying to run it out of gas and filled it up while it was on reserve not seeing any harm, however i reckon i only got 20 quid in the tank before it stopped, have i done something retarded????? or is this because its a new cylinder and there is oxygen in there waiting to be pushed out?)

It all looks very tidy any photos of the control stuff inside? I presume you have to have it serviced every now and then?

looks great
was there not an instruction sheet ? :)
with our house tank it can't be filled over 80% to allow for expansion of the gas in hot weather

Um yeah but that was at home, plus I haven't had time, I'm a bloke etc etc lol.
Yes I get free servicing up to 24000 miles and he's localish so easy to stick to.
I've got a 1k tweak in a couple of weeks.
Kits a 80l tank so it takes 64. I got just over half in.
to be fair the garage said they may be low.

225 miles down, and it feels better and better.
I think some uprated rear springs might be advisable down the line as she rides a little low at the back but this hasn't effected the balance which I'm not sure I'd have guaranteed with a spare wheel tank.
There was nothing wrong with how I filled the tank the other day just one of those things I spose.

Oh not that u can see it very well but the Ecu for the lpg is the silver thing attached to my battery. Ill post a better pic tomorrow.
Its nice and substantial and hell of a lot more rugged than my old megasquirt unit. :)
I had Quaternary of a tank when I got it back I've put 20 quid in and still on gas after 225 miles, obviously the ecu is still adjusting so I wont be getting optimal MPG yet.
That said no Fto on the planet will get u 225 miles on that money lol

It's not very hidden away is it?, I'd go as far as to say it's quite an amateur looking install mate, my V6 had nothing on show except the LPG ECU and 1 Feed pipe running to each plenum front and rear, all other wires, injectors etc were all hidden away and bolted to the bulkhead, that's held together with cable ties!, and probably at the hottest part of the engine!

Here's a pic of my V6 bay to let you see,

You can see the front LPG feed go in just under the oil catch tank, and the ECU at the back right next to the fuse box,

Thats a fine looking engine bay, if you dont mind me asking how much was the install?
That's all fine so long as you have the room plus this chap claims to fit them for ease of maintainance and you would find it tricky to locate the injectors elsewhere as you can see my inlet runners all run to the back of the engine where its very tight trust me.
And it isn't held together with cable ties.

Whats the service interval on your install? A lad at work haf a prins system fitted to a v8 discovery and he recond it was 75000 but I cant see that being true.

It was done when I got it mate dunno how much it cost, and as you can see there isn't much room in the V6 bay either,

What secures the injector bar on top of the inlet?,

Also I would remove the cable tie that's round the first hose on the left and the thick pipe from the vapouriser because it will eventually rub through and will catch fire easily because of the heat. I would also insulate the wires going into the injectors to the plug, again the heat at that point of the engine will dry out the plastic sheath and the copper wire will become very brittle.

I don't mean to sound like a dick mate it just doesn't look safe to me at all!

It has a 1k service then 5k service then 12k then 24 for free on the brc schedule.

The rail is grub screwed through the bar into the casting so don't worry on that score,
yes the wiring could look more professional however how do you think you get power to normal petrol injectors that sit in a much hotter part of the engine?
I paid for a lpg system not to have my engine bay show prepared.
it can all be tarted up later I didn't have a limitless budget I'm afraid.

I'm not getting at you mate, and it's not about getting the bay tarted up, it's a safety thing, you can't actually say your happy having the rail screwed into the intake??,

It's not about how much it cost, it's about professionalism and workmanship, neither of which have been displayed above,

As long as your happy with it is all that matters, but definitely remove that first cable tie from the first hose,

I want it fitted in the Signum ASAP, cheap fuel FTW lol

Sorry dont meen to sound funny either, I do appreciate what your saying but should anything go wrong at least its easily got at.
I will have a look at the cable tie situation however to move the injector rail would be a nightmare.
The runner arrangement on the vectra seems a little better designed to take it.
There's no room under the covers or the inlet :(
I'm not sure what yours cost to convert but it looks awesome!
Signum would go well I'm sure!

obviously i have to take on board your concerns, but i have google imaged a number of conversions and what i have is nothing unusual, after all i have paid for the equipment and fitting which is what i have.
what you have to bear in mind is he is one of the few uklpg registered fitters in my area, his work is guarunteed for 24k or 2 years with free servicing. also it was NEVER meant to be there so where does he put it?
there isnt quite as much plastic to hide it under in my car also you will notice as well as all the runners going over the back it doewsnt have gtinorous plenums on each side of the engine.
your just a very lucky boy who had someone else spend a fortune on a car you bought. if you were an lpg fitter i would be a little more forgiveing.
i would reserve comments for when you have paid for it yourself and you actually know something about the engine you are looking at.:)
