3D TV

The rental is up on our old TV's, so sacked the rental off as the price of TV's have come down quite a bit recently, and bought a LG 42LW450U
42" 3D LED BACKLIT TV

Not going to bother with Sky 3D, as it's £10 per month extra, so signed up with Love Film so we can rent 3D movies instead. Have had Captain America and Lion King so far, and 3D it amazing!

Gears of War 3 on the XBOX in 3D is bloody brilliant as well (y)

Personally I would choose either Samsung or Sony LED TVs. I don't know much about LGs. And same as you I'm not going to pay extra for any 3D programmes. I just cannot be bothered to wear glasses. I don't think I will buy any 3D movies for the same reason.

To me all that matters is smooth judder free, high refresh rate viewing experience so we will be buying Sony 40 inch LED Backlit TV with Motionflow XR 400. Full 3D capabilities but no 3D glasses included. It cost £699 at the moment.

I was a bit dubious with it being an LG. The last 4 TV's we've had have all been Toshiba, but I spent a while in the store trying it out, and was really surprised at how clear the picture was.

It came with 7 pairs of 3D specs, which was a bonus as well, as the equivalent Toshiba that we were looking at, and was £50 cheaper.

I've got the PS3 and XBOX set up with it for 3D, and the Sky HD box will just be for Sky.

We've also moved the TV from the wall, as it's a lot thinner than before, and would have meant having to buy new wall mounting brackets, so it's now sat on top of the unit where the XBOX/PS3/Sky box are. Also means we have more room for Kinect as well on the XBOX, due to having a corner sofa.

Plasma is cool. But too expensive on electricity.. Roughly 4 times higher energy consumption compared to LED. I was tempted to get a plasma tv not only because of great picture quality but also because they are much cheaper to buy than LEDs. In long run they cost much more though. My telly is on almost all the time.

I do like 3D TV's but could not have one myself more than 5 minutes viewing and they make me feel sick. My mate has also just bought a plasma do they still suffer from screen image burn in?

really want one!!!

i really wouldnt worry about them being LG as they make the vast majority of the actual screens then sell em on to other companys for them to build the tv's. (y)

Just had a play about with the settings based on some of the info from AVForums, and it's made quite a difference to the picture quality!

Just had a check on the LG website, and there is a firmware update for the TV, so I'll be doing that when I get home from work in the morning.
