Got a couple of mates to fit the manifold for me (a crate of beer well spent!) and I'm pretty imopressed. It really does fly now in the higher revs. The only issue I have is the noise up to 4k revs. I cant work out whether it sounds like a highly tuned V8 or a nail; somethings definately not right. Sounds almost like a gasket isn't sealed but is there anything else it maight be? We left the metal pipe (egr I think) off so there is now just a hole in the cylinder head; is this right? I'm going to put a pipe with a breather filter on it later just in case.

the egr pipe should be removed, but you should also fit a blanking plate below the egr valve :thumbup:

Here's how i done mine.

I would expect it would be quite noisy without a blanking plate fitted to the egr valve

don't forget to leave a hole below the plunger so the egr valve can still operate, all you need to do is blank off the other hole.

or you could fit a blanking plate to the cylinder head where the egr pipe used to fit

I made a blanking plate to fit over the hole and the noise has gone. I'm just wondering how long it will take before someone in the office notices we now only have a 24cm metal ruler!

The car is running perfectly with no teething issues. Thats with a pipercross viper induction, Janspeed backbox and 200 cell cat and TMS stage 2+ remap. This is easily the most difference any mod has made so far, pulls really hard now. 😃

A few people have suffered form a poor mixture with the TMS remap and the 2.4 manifold. Might be worth taking it to a rolling road to check the AFR is OK throughout the rev range (you don't want it running lean).

Went for a little drive last night but turned round and came home before the car had warmed up. The car was stuttering quite a bit so thought I better not drive it. Haven't had the time to get it rolling roaded but aiming to do so within the next week. Any ideas what the problem is?

Maybe a airleak, did you clean the surface before installing the new mani?

I'm not too sure tbh; I was in charge of the tea whislt my mate got his hands dirty.

Also; suppose the rolling road place say it is running lean, can they do anything or does it need re-mapping?

A RR should tell you the AFM most VXLs run rich, a remap is the only real answer.

Not running so well now. Every time I try and go above 4k it splutters lots. Its booked into the rolling road on wednesday but I think they are just going to tell me what I already know.

What are my options?

-Fit the original manifold again?
-Get the remap removed as the standard map seems to work ok with the new manifold?
-?

it seems weird why most 2.4 manifolds fitted to a vx220 with a tms stage2 map loose power notsure.gif

but then the tms stage 2 map was not mapped for a 2.4 manifold, so it's not really anyones fault dunno..

I decided to take it the rolling road anyway just to see if he could shed any light. Up to 4k revs there was very little fuel being sent, then it dumps a load of fuel at 4k......then my rad blew up. Tits.

Think I'm just going to get my rad sorted and revert back to the 2.2 manifold until someone comes up with a 2.4 manifold map. Or should I get TMS to take my map back to standard and still use the 2.4, seem to get more gains from that.

This problem dose not sound like the TMS remap.

A number of people have run the 2.4 manifold with the stage 2 map and it has only been when the car has been put on a rolling road that a problem come to light. The cars were not undrivable like yours. I think something is not fitted correctly.

Any VXL dealership should be able to replace the original map.
