ticking noise in engine

hi,i have a 52 plate 2.2 sri astra. Over the past 2 weeks my car has developed a ticking/knocking noise, it almost sounds like a diesel when i start it up in the morning and through out the day it will make this noise on tick over,there has not been a change on performance or engine running,its just this annoying sound!! does anyone have any ideas what it could be and how i could fix it?? thanks

Have you checked the cam chain has been replaced?

sounds like a fooked chain, get it checked ASAP

if it breaks thats £2000+ in repairs !!!!!

hi,the oil is fine, im not sure when the chain was last changed though,maybe i shud check that.

The chain is fine,have been told that it could be a sticky lifter,so im going to flush the engine and see how i get on

a noisy lifter will just be annoying rather than a major problem
