evening all,

i am a newby, my current drive is a vec 'b' 1.8 estate for work and returning around 30 mpg..gearbox just given up the ghost and was thinking of replacing it with a 2.2 sri 150 estate......milage aint the issue more fuel consumption as the car is 90% of the time fully loaded with tool's etc

any help would be greatly appreciated

1.8 ecotec's are horrible engines - they dont pull well and feel very gutless

the 2.2 has a lot of torque and is a complete different drive, much more exciting, i had a 2.0 ecotec but the 2.2 and it is much more interesting

hi the 2.2 estate has plenty of power when needed the fuel consumption all depends on how heavy your foot is and the distances you travel
i tend to have a heavy foot sometimes and dont need to travel far for work plus the car has some mods but the the computer says i return around 25.4 to the gallon would be better on a steady run and i tend to have stuff in the boot
also thinking of selling mine as going down to one car

i love myn but myns in an astra great car seems like its got loads power to me but i am only 18 lol
