Sick Exhaust... Advice or opinions please

Hi all,

First of all, my first post, great forum and community you have here, i've visited a number of times!

Reason for posting, is i'm looking for some advice on exhausts.

I'm driving a 2.2 Astra SRi (2003 plate) and mine is sick and V noisy at the moment, my wife thinks i'm a bad boy! lol

The last time I was able to get under the car, the join between the center and BB looked like it was on its last legs, so i'm assuming this has given up now!
I've been been quoted £280 for the original vauxhall replacement BB and center pipe, however, I was told by a guy I know who works for a vauxhall dealer that the join at the BB is a common problem.

The car has a style pack fitted, pic below, and i'm happy with the look of the standard BB.

However, for around £300 i'm assuming that I should be able to go out and get an after market exhaust, should be a full stainless steel, hopefully sound better and give a small performance gain?? For a little extra in £'s it seems like a no-brainer!

If i could choose, I wouldn't mind an oval pipe... My problem is I have no idea what to look for, and i'm hoping you kind people will have lots of suggestions!
I'd like any after market BB to sit well in the gap of the bumper, I dont want too lairy, but sound mean when releasing the horses, and I would like it to be as easy to fit as possible!

Like Vocky said a nice magnex or Milltek setup. But if you like the Irmsher BB and it is just the flange that has gone get yourself down to a decent custom exhaust place and get a new flange welded on and then get a remus race pipe for 60 notes.

as above, just buy magnex or milltek, or even remus, but i would just get the thing fixed and but a race centre pipe.

You could try Remus they make the irmisher silencers for VX IIRC

What some people may not realise is that the pro-drive rear splitter you have fitted in the picture limits your choices. You have to be very carefull to ensure that the aftermarket exhaust exits in the exact same place in the center of the cutout. The Magnex one dosent, neither does the jatex oval, or scorpion.

As already pointed out, the irmscher BB is basicaly a remus item, and the remus stuff will line up perfect. I perticualy like the remus twin round that looks very tasty with that rear end, but unfortunatly only has the same bore as the standard zorst and wont give as much gain as a proper performance system like the miltec. I'm not 100% sure about the miltec, but im pretty sure that fits too, just double check when you call to order one. You other option of course is a custom system, which will probably set you back about the same money, but in all honesty probably wouldnt be as good as the miltec jobbie.

Blueflame do a nice 6x4 oval to fit the sri-t that shares that splitter, but I'm not sure if they do it with the 2.2 front fittment? may be worth a phone call aswell. If you live inthe north west its worth a trip there for a custom job too.

Thanks for the comments, esp lightning with RE the BB's that will / wont fit in the gap... this was my main concern really!

Exhaust is starting to rattle now when idling, so dont think i've got long left to change it! :oops:
