Ubuntu on the PS3

Just finished installing Ubuntu Linux onto the PS3. This is the first post from there 😃

Need to get it configured to run a bit better, but it works!

If anyone else is thinking of giving this a go, I followed the instructions here:

I've tried a few flavours of Linux on the PS3 .. unless Sony unlock full access to the cell processor it's not likely to be anything more than a novelty.
Which is a bit poo as I quite liked having a 1920x1080 desktop 🙂

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm using it now to post this, and it's OK for browsing the web etc, which is all I want it for, as I also have Linux running on both my Desktop and Laptop.

I'm just going to try installing Fluxbox to replace Gnome, which should make it a bit quicker, but only having 213mb of RAM is daft.

i discovered today it's trivially simple to make an iso image of a blu-ray disc using linux on the PS3 🙂

why would you want to do this wat is the beneifits

Would that mean you can play the ISO image from a drive directly on the PS3??
