cars idle is hunting

ok when i start the car i sometimes have to pump the accelerator to get it goin and when i leave it sitting the car starts hunting any ideas on how this can be solved? cheers

abit more info--- the car is idleing at 700 mark but when i slightly up the revs the lumpy tickover goes.

possibly the throttle body needs cleaning out or there is an air leak on the inlet system

My 2.2 started hunting, I tried cleaning the inlet and the EGR stuff but my chain had jumped a tooth! Its posted on here under very, very lucky. hopefully yours is not the same and cleaning the throttle bodies will do it!!
