Hey Folks

Been a while since i been here, but im back again.

Ive sorted the exhaust on the astra 2.2 sri but i need a bit of advice on **which induction kit is best suited **to the astra's engine , if any.

I have also done the sports 200CPI cat but **no one seems **to be able to **tell me if i have a pre cat or no fitted **and , having no means of gettin under to check , i was wondering if anyone else has had the work done , its a 2003 model 2.2 sri 16v.

Induction kit....none. The engine bay gets far too hot, and will suffer from heat soak, so all noise and no go.

You can't go wrong with a de-restricted airbox, performance filter of your choice, and a Vectra-C Diesel air intake pipe.

my local performance garage reckon pipercross works well with vauxhall , any one out there able to confirm this , not that i doubt them they are really good , but they all drive vo's and the like 😃
might a totally enclosed induction kit , ie. the pipercross venom be effective , thought they are really expensive ...

It really is up to you, but i would save your money and mod the airbox and get a decent panel filter. The gains that i have witnessed with induction kits are very minimal and have also been known to lose power through heat soak. As for the pre cat, i don't think that your car had one at that age, they stopped putting them in but i'm sure someone else will be able to confirm.

mine had one and mine is a 2003, the way to find out is drop the downpipe and see. As for the induction kit, as matt said nothing is better than just derestricting the airbox, adding a pipercross panel filter and veccy c pipework.

Cut this off with a Stanley knife right at the inside where is first enters into the box. Have a look in the lid and you'll see a restrictor pipe (narrow taper), this just comes out with a twist and a turn. These are the first steps to derestricting. You can also add another big hole in the box if you wish."
