Lap top to Amp leads?

How do I wire up a lap top to a bar amp? What leads would I need? I am doing a party for a mate but can't be bothered to take the cd decks, my mate said I can use his lap top, as he has plenty mp3 on it and mixing software. Any info would be great. The party is next week I think notsure.gif

i think you need 3.5mm jack plug to phono connectors, not sure what a bar amp is though

As Roger said, just the same leads you used to connect your PC to your TV Mark to get the sound to that (the red and white connections to the 3.5mm jack) - but that is presuming the bar amp has the same input connections

The bar amp I have takes the white and red connections just like a mixer does. So it will be going from the sound card on the lap top, to the amp and it should work ok? I was looking on HTFR for some leads, but I did not know what to look for. Cheers

I take it the single connection goes into an audio out on the sound card? I just hope his lap top has an audio out. Cheers 🙂

Yeah mate, it should do if he has loads of MP3's and mixing software. I don't actually know any laptop that doesn't have a sound card fitted.

One thing though mate, have you mixed on a Laptop properly before? What you may find if he only has 1 audio output on his laptop, you'll have no way to monitor.

I use the same lead to hook up my lappy and hifi. No other port than my headphone socket though, does the job.

I spoke to him today and he said he uses his headphone jack?
