tim hope ive posted this in the right place hello people is it a hard job to fit a oil pressure switch to a vectra sri estate x reg 2.2 ive been told its the white plug on the front of the engine but it was the same guy that said the switch was £50 but i have just got one from fast parts for £3.50 the only thing that guy says is stand and deliver lol well if anyone can help please let me know also the timing chain makes a noise but ive been told it is self tightening so not to worry is this true sorry to be a pain but this is the only site that gives out the right info kind regards tim
Jamee Not sure on the switch mate, but if the chain is noisy, have it looked at or/and changed, it will snap, taking the best bits of the engine with it, PM benny, he is the chain guru mate.
blue_se2 Not fitted on before but it would probably be easiest from under the car as the switch is below the inlet manifold near the gearbox side of the engine. And as Jamee prob best to get the chain looked at as this is the main part for concern on the 2.2.
tim thanks for info i had it looked at well he had a listen and said its fine its not a load noise i first thought it might be a tappet/follower shall i get a second opion?
blue_se2 Maybe a good idea to have a word with one of the technicians at ya nearest VX dealer this is the only thing that lets the 2.2 down and it beter to be safe then sorry?
Jamee Once it has started being noisy, it will just get worse, running the risk of it snapping, get it changed Tim, not worth the risk.
blue_se2 Just seen you have an X reg vectra chances are you have the old oil jet which can cause problems so prob best to have the chain replace anyway how many miles has she done??
tim has anyone got a price from vauxhall for a chain etc change i just got a new tail gate in the wrapper for a tenner thought thats handy its always the way save on tail gate need chain all because some bafoon hit the back and jogged on
Jamee I think its about £200 all in mate, if your not far from south wales, Daz will do it for a good price, or go to bennys mate.

tim i know the mileage is high but she drives so tight starts no smoke still does over 120 with ease on the private motorway that no one has ever found hehe no rust still mirror paint work one off the mechanics at vauxhall said that the mini cabs use the vectra and they are over 200000 still smooth and going stronger and we all know what abuse cabs get is there anyone else on here who has columbus riding shotgun with them
