Hi guys, I've had an Innovate wideband lambda and guage from the states for a few months now, and thought i'd have a go at fitting them (the engine appears to be running quite lean at WOT and I want to check). How have the people that have done it routed the wires to the guage at the front of the car, and where did you place the wideband module itself?
The cable on the lambda is pretty short, so the module has to be located quite near to the 2:1 Y-piece. As far as I can see I've got 3 options...
1) Tie the wideband module to the gearbox cables under the engine and add a cable that runs into the cabin alongside them (this looks quite tight, and is probably quite harsh for the module)
2) Tie the wideband to the gearbox cables near the gearbox and run the wires down the side of the car (looks nasty)
3) Tie the wideband to the gearbox cables near the gearbox and then run the wires down the middle of the car with the gearbox cables again.
None of these seems very nice. Did anyone do it another way? Are there any tricks to getting the cable into the cabin via the gear linkage cables?
I'm a bit anxious about getting it right - I don't seem to be having much luck lately. I tried last weekend and the jack slipped, punching a pretty massive hole through the side sill 🙁 I seem to be having a little more luck fixing that, but then I welded a 2nd lambda boss onto the manifold, and managed to get myself a really nasty burn from catching my arm on it :S
