When I was an apprentice at Airbus many years ago, we had to strip and rebuild a Rolls-Royce Gnome jet engine in groups of 3. One of the other groups next to us had a pot full of fasteners left over after rebuilding and because they didn't know where they went, they tipped to pot into the compressor housing!!
Our intructor came to do the checks to see if we had all done the job properly and he was horrified to find all the spare bits when he looked into the other groups engine. Needless to say, they were put on report and got a severe bollocking! After that they had to strip the engine down again and rebuild using ALL the fasteners!!
Oh how we laughed!!
