Emissions light on...tried various things...please help

Hi all,

A few weeks ago my emissions light came on following what felt like a missfire on part acceleration. This kept happening occassionally, after about 5-10 mins of driving, then would be fine. I would part throttle, the missfire was felt, back off the throttle and reapply and it was fine. Somtimes were worse than others.

Had it checked at Vauxhall who said it was a missfire code, remedy was to change the coil pack and / or the spark plugs, I changed both for new units.

All was fine for nearly a week, until tonight I was coming back from work sat it traffic, emissions light came on, went to pull away and the car felt like it was being held back for part of a second, then it was fine again.

Can anybody suggest what may be causing this to happen? And what I can do to stop it happening again?

could be a few things, fuel filter, dodgy connection somewhere, dodgy maf (I never realised the vecC had one, so difficult to predict what a duff one would do)

Could it be a lambda issue. TBH the first time I felt the problem was the day after I had the downpipe done, and we had to extend the wiring on the lambdas? Just wondering whether this may affect anything?

it's possible, might be an idea to get a lambda with a longer cable

OK guys quick update. I fitted a new lambda, and the engine ran perfectly, but had a new boss welded in the side of the downpipe as the old position caused the lambda to hit the crossbeam as the engine rocked back, resulting in a bent lambda. This in turn knackered the thread on the boss, and when I fitted the new lambda it knackered the thread on that (thought it was tight). So when he moved the lambda to the new boss, I was told he didn't think this lambda would last long, which it hasn't and I am having problems again now.

So have ordered yet ANOTHER lambda, but this time one for a vec b as it has longer wires, so I don't have to faff around extending them again, my question is will it fit ok? I imagine it should but I am just concerned the lambda for the vec b is different to the vec c due to the difference in the position it is mounted (top of manicat on vec c).

Should it work? I'm sick of throwing money at it!!

it should be ok, it sounds like the lambdas were getting damaged by the crossbeam, as they are ceramic they would crack easily
