do i need mine replaced??

hi, ive got a 2002 vectra b and popped into vx to get a touch up pen, while i was there i asked how much it would be to get my timing chain replaced as the cars done 65000miles now and ive read they shuould be changed when they hit 70000... anyways the woman does her thing with the computer then says it hasnt got the option for that for my car meaning it never needs replacing, is this right???? has anyone else ever been told this????? im getting no rattle or anything off it but i was thinkin of getting it replaced anyway for peace of mind as £200-£300 is better than paying over £1000 if it snaps 😃

It will need replacing one day. You need to see if your engine # falls into the effected range? You may be lucky if its a 2002 plate. Vx won't tell you the truth. Our man Vocky will be able to give more info on the effected engines.

I always advise if it rattles on cold start up replace it ASAP, if it's quiet change the oil every 5000 miles

you will have the older chain kit, every vec B 2.2 did, so you can have it replaced for peace of mind if you wish.

vauxhall state the chain is for the life of the engine, but engine life = 100,000 miles to them.

its gets an oil change every 5000 miles so its ok on that front but i think ill get it changed for peace of mind. Yeah it struck me when they said it never needs changing because I thought well surely it will snap because everything breaks sometime due to wear and tear. thanks for the advice 😃
