After 5 weeks our Zaffi is about to be fixed. Head recon and timing kit. Holden are giving it 2years or 20,00km warranty which sounds pretty good to me. However, I have lost confidence in the car I used to love. There seem to be other inherent problems with the Z 2.2SE engine also, such as ignition and suddenly losing the oil. Sell it or keep it?

I would say drive it for a few weeks, if the fun doesn't return then sell it

the timing chain oil jet is the biggest issue of the z22se engine, the coil pack failing isn't common but can happen.

loosing the oil isn't something I've heard about, they do need to have the oil level checked regularly

Thanks Vocky. Glad to hear the cam chain is the worst recorded fault. Two weeks on we still don't have our car back yet but hope for early next week. Think we've had a pretty good win with GMHolden as they will pay for all the parts and fix it at warranty rates which means that although we pay for labour it is at a much lower rate than the usual workshop rates and there is a manufacturer's time limit for the job which apparently all works in my favour - the dealership loses out on a juicy job. At just under 90,000km this must be an indication of the culpability the manufacturer for the known fault?
