I am experimenting at the moment too, I noticed a drop in low torque when I put two big holes in the airbox, effectively reducing any back pressure. I can block one up, low power comes back but gutless at the top, have two holes and its lazy until you thrash it but is clearly faster 4k+. Some one mentioned certain exotic cars having variable intake pipes, I can see this having a positive effect.
