Running rich for long periods could foul up your plugs and indeed your O2 sensors. Im pretty sure the oil gets rather dirty too with all the soot. In extreme cases it can also lead to bore-wash, where the cylinder bores oil coating is burnt off.
It may be worth doing a plug and oil change and a compression check while you're at it, but if the car is now running ok there shouldn't be anything to worry about.
