The only advantage you have of a tuning box is that it usually doesn't alter your Boost level, meaning your turbo will likely last much longer. Ive known plenty with tuned diesels and the part to ALWAYS give up first is the turbo (one guy got through 4 in 3yrs, but drives like a tit!). 🙁 My car originally had a AMD One Click box (Fuelling only basically, 1.35Bar peak) and still produced 174BHP with the other mods! Fuel economy was arguably the same as the remap, maybe a touch less.
The 'proper' remap did feel more petrol like however, as the boost levels maintained some redline torque. 🙂
