alanoo I noticed that on my saab head the 'off the shelf' solid lifters would not work. the reason being the shim which sits below the lifter doesn't have anywhere to stay.

below the lifter is the oil way, this forms a semi-circular void below the lifter, so the shim would fall into the oilway instead of staying below the lifter

I will measure the saab lifters for you

the hydraulic lifter is 12.0mm in diameter, the upper section is 7.9mm in diameter

the total height of the lifter is 37mm, of which 10mm is the upper section

of course the upper section will be less than 10mm when installed, but thats the hard part, adjusting the length of 16 lifters !
