I went to buy a veccy 2.2 02 plate a few weeks back and pout a 100 quid depo
i took it out for a spin and it was fine
went back a week later to pay up in full and some nasty rattle knock came from timing section after i started her up - luckily before i bought her
he rang me up today that it has now been sorted and has cost him 190 quid to replace a tensioner as he said it was falling apart
something to with the timing cover being pushed in and tensioner wearing out
he said the car runs sweet now
i am still interested in the car as i am getting for below p/x book price and have agreed to buy it on monday
can i have some advice please from people who know their stuff, also i am thinking of paying benny to put a new timing chain on regardless of whether it was rattling anyway as I always replace the cam belt on any car i buy 2nd hand asap
