old_cruiser Just been reading about Z22SE & Z22YH engines, anyone know what the difference is, my car is a 2003 '53 plate Vectra and now wondering what I've actually got in there, suspecting it's a Z22SE can anyone confirm? Cheers Pete
vocky the z22yh is direct injection, I think the car is normally badged as a 2.2 direct on the boot of a 53 plate it also has a black cam cover, but so do some z22se's
george Now we have established the Z22YH is direct injection, would it replace a Z22SE and work or would the ecu be different and anything else? notsure.gif
rushy Most Yh's come with a 6 speed box fitted, but early ones still had the F23. The lump itself would be a straight swap the i'm not to sure about the ECU. As all YH's run the canbus system on the C its not an easy swap for a C but in a B it should be a goer. Fuel tank, pumps and lines are different but apart from that shouldn't really need to change much else I would have thought. You still not got that SE sorted?
vocky don't buy a z22yh unless you already have one fitted, it's not an easy conversion as the fuel system + ecu are totally different
george vocky said: don't buy a z22yh unless you already have one fitted, it's not an easy conversion as the fuel system + ecu are totally different thanks vocky just exploring ways of finding newer scrapyard engine cos dont fancy putting in a 7 year old supposedly low mileage engine which could have been stood in damaged motor for years corroding internally. This is making a vauxhall dealer exchange unit a better option.

Many thanks Twin Exhausts on Direct only as well mate, and welcome to the site.
Blue_2_2 The Yh has higher compression as standard the rods are thicker near the small end bearing and will take more abuse before breaking the crank is also suitable for aftermarket ecu as it a different trigger wheel
