Cam chain kit & Piper cams ?

I noticed a rattle from my rocker cover this morning, so I whipped off the the cover and my chain is slack 🙁

I haven't had a good shifty yet, but I suspect a dodgy tensioner, so it's a new chain kit time.
It was replaced foc by VX last easter, so as it's outside the 12 months warranty, it's coming out of my pocket this time 🙁 🙁

What I'd like to know is, as I'll have all the timing gear removed to fit the new kit, is it advisable to fit my piper cams at the same time,
or is it a bad idea ??

perfect time to upgrade the cams showo..

makes you wonder if they replaced the full kit or just the tensioner :roll:

I do have the newer markings on the chain, so it looks like it was all replaced, but I was hoping it would last more than 15 months !

It seemed like the perfect opportunity to install the cams as all of the timing gear would be off,
but as the cams need 20 minutes @ 2000+ rpm to harden the faces, I was worried about installing a new chain kit and not having any time @ tickover to check all is well with the chain ?

I'm not 100% convinced on the dodgy hair cut, but the car looks absolutely awesome mate 😃

I had been outside for 6 hours, the temperature was about 6 degrees and the pic was taken with me sitting on the stone cold floor for 10 minutes, I look 20 years older in that pic, when I show people it they say it isn't me :lol:
