civic type r?

what type of power would an sri 150 have to be pushing out to be able to keep up with one? i know the civics are around 200bhp standard but if the vectra was 200bhp would it keep up with it or would it need more power?

due to the weight i would have to say higher than 200 bhp?

As said you would need a fair bit more power then 200 in a vectra to keep up with a Type R.

same here, im sure one of the boffins on here could work out exact bhp needed, but i would have thought approx about 215-220bhp, it would be the torque that you need the most to keep up or leave em behind.

u wud need to shed a few pounds off the car.... seems like you know someone whos got one why dont you give him ago... dont do it from standing start though do it 2nd gear 20 mph

the reason i ask is, my friend has always bought cars that are quicker than mine! e.g. i had a punto gt he bought a cav turbo, he changed his car earlier thsi year to a vectra c 2.2dti now that was a bit quicker than my sri140 but now i have got the sri 150 he aint happy its quicker than his so he's on about getting a civic type r! so was just wondering if i would have any chance if i tuned the vectra a bit more? if not i'll just leave it as theres no point in spending the extra money! i looked on the net and the civic is about 150kg lighter than the vectra anyway!

The only way would be as loose weight and maybe forced induction even N\A you may struggle and are looking at ££££ , and then if the type R goes forced induction you would not have a chance.

To get to 200bhp in a z22se you are looking at spending over £3500 unless doing the work yourself. To get over 200bhp you are closing in on £4k+. The engine in the Type R is a VTEC engine and revs to something stupid like 8.5/9000rpm!!

My mates EP3 Type-R could out-accellerate my std VX220 above 100 leptons at Bruntingthorpe - thats with a 250+KG advantage - they are very quick once they are moving (and aerodynamics are key) having a half decent driver who can keep it in the power band.

Id agree with jamee at 215-220BHP, in that case the Z22SE would have much more torque for the bottom end to pull your extra weight and a comparable terminal speed. In other words, not really worth it 🙁
