A_Senna Hi, just finished fitting a new centre section on my old Vectra and the rear box now seems to be tapping on the suspension spring. all of the bolts are tightened and gasket in place etc...... any ideas?
vocky the centre pipe is not aligned, they sometimes get bent, I usually bend them to the required shape before fitting them easy to do, align the backbox and then offer up the middle box, see where it's out and then bend the pipe to suit usually a 5 minute job
A_Senna How would I bend the centre box pipe, heat it up? the new centre section was fitted and it was already banging on the spring. notsure.gif
vocky I place one end on something solid, and appply force where the correction is required force = jump on the exhaust !
JohnnyN Did you know that he keeps a horse and a cowboy hat in a stable next to the garage that he keeps his vx220 in?? rofl.. horse2.gif
A_Senna Thats what you get I spose for buying a aftermarket centre section, or are the Genuine GM the same?
Jamee hahaha...had you there Neil...lol Senna - sorry, but thats non oem fitments mate, never fit spot on, you may save money buying it, but more hassle, money, and headaches fitting it. Hope you get it sorted.
A_Senna Thought I'd give you all a update got a new GM centre section and still the same problem but not as bad, notsure.gif Does anybody elses rear letterbox style backbox sit close to the spring? dunno..
Jamee thats weird, the OEM one shouldnt touch anything, it should fit like a glove, if you can the car on some ramps, have a good look around the spring area, something might be bent.
JohnnyN Are all the rubbers on the backbox mounted correctly. Did you fit new ones or are they OE? Also, is the back box sitting correctly on the hangers?
