anyway, interesting pics for the BTCC engine, we got a source that worked a few years engineering these engines too, we are trying to get some infos (apart from the "you can get 280 bhp from the engine, but it is cracking everywhere, from the head to the blocks" 😃 )

4/2/1 with apparently something very close to the lenghts we calculated and it looks like it could fit a VX with not that much modifications...

nice pics, what is the big carbon box on the front???
Way i look at it tho, yeah they get 280-300bhp from the engines, but there is not much that is z22se left in there, so not really a z22se is it....or am i wrong???

the small pic is th only pic I have found on the internet, it's the 'one off' 2.2 vx220 sprint which was written off :roll:

the carbon box is the inlet manifold 🙂

the engines were z20net so nothing much z22se on them in the first place what..

I also noticed the pistons were 'dome' topped not flat like the z22se

Upto 2005-2006 it was a z22se base
From 2006 it is a Z20NET (LSJ) base

the z22se derivative did 285hp (being destroked to 2.0l due to reglementation) with cracks in the head and bottom end at mid term usage
the new one does 300bhp without these cracks

All is developed by a French company, from which 888 orders the dev

I tried to packege something like that in one of my CAD schemes, unfortunatley due to the smallest radius bend being 1.5D you can't get it low enough to not be too close to the clam, it could work in a car with a metal bonet though.

Interresting carbon inlet. Looks like the carbon trumpets are glued to an aluminum inlet flange....

Is that a 4-1 exhaust, or a 4-2-1??

yes it's a 4-2-1 exhaust manifold, you can see more in the top pic (the engine in the background)

the inlet is carbon glued to an alloy inlet manifold

I believe the injectors are pointed straight into the huge trumpets, but not sure dunno..

But indeed it looks like a nice 4-2-1. And cilinder pairing is a "normal" 4+1 & 2+3 I see there... 😃

I'm thinking of modifying my weaponR over the winter to make the pairing the 'normal' config 1+4 / 2+3 rather than 1+3 / 2+4

Does the carbon inlet still use an ETB? I couldn't see one - I guess it could be on the other side...

I wonder how much 'used' BTCC engines are? 🙂 Is it a special, or does the Z20NET have oil cooler connections in the block, so us VX220 guys don't need the spacer plate?

I didn't notice the tb, but I expect it's a cable tb

the z20net + LSJ both have an oil cooler mounted on the side of the block, the btcc engine has this plumbed to a 'proper' rad instead
