Semi or Fully synthetic Oil

Went to the vxl dealers for oil and oil filter, the parts guy looked up in his book and said the z22se takes fully synthetic (0w30).

I got home a checked what they have sold me before and it was semi synthetic 10w40.

Will 0w30 be ok or should I go back to the vxl parts dept?

I always use fully synth GM stuff seems to burn a fair bit more then 10-40 but the engine seems to run a bit smoother on it. I just make sure i keep and eye on the oil level.

Interesting to know why it burns off quicker though, but i will keep an eye on it.

I may be wrong here but i think cos the vescosity is thin it burns faster?

Fully synth to me looks like water compared to semi which is more like gravey in consitancy LOL.

I run mine on the new GM Super Synthetic from Vauxhall. Fully Synthetic is the recommended oil though.

i use 0/40 always have, unless daz get me some, then its 10/40. mine has never burned no oil, every oil change, it is still full.

Vauxhalls semi syn for me, have done changes every 3 - 4k without fail and im now at 90k (had the car since 20k on the clock) never uses any and runs spot on.
