kirky ok folks iv got a prob with my steering i noticed today that there was a dry grinding noise comming from my steering when i turned the wheel so i looked in the steering fluid res and found there was no fluid there,i looked at the steering rack and on the passenger side of the rack there seemed to be fluid leaking from the gaiter.is my rack knackered or is this repairable.thanks in advance kirky
dodger I think you can new seal kit for the steering rack or a reconditioned one, i'm not sure though. Perhaps someone on here can come up with the answer
JohnnyN I reckon this may cost you in the region of around £700 to sort out. Another member that I know had to replace his twice. Once when it first went wrong and then again under warranty. I have heard that the racks can be a problem.
kirky cheers guys the racks totally gubbed,im getting a new rack and a new clutch(the release baring doing ma tits in)all supplied and fitted for £500 sheets.instead of selling the vec im going the full hog with it now because ive spent a fortune on it
