ANDYSHELL Hello everyone! Over on the engine section I recently posted a note about a "strange engine noise". I had been lazy and as the noise came and went I had not got under the bonnet. I started my car to put it away for the night but I had a slightly louder rattle than normal but when it returned to normal idle speed it was hunting, power was also down a little. I tried the EGR blanking route but in the back of my mind I thought chain!! Anyway I bit the bullet and changed both chains and all is now well again thank goodness. It was ready to give up the ghost.(new tensioner but old oil jet etc, mind you Vauxhall have told me it was not affected twice!) If anyone else hears funny noises like I did get your chain done. I was real lucky I drove it for 2 days with the erratic idle. 😃 It is like new now and I cant stop driving it around!!
dodger nice one Andy, i bet your relieved that you caught it in time. So many stories on here saying that they have the old jet even though VXL have told them it's not affect, just shows how crap there databases are.
ANDYSHELL I am so glad its untrue!! I cant keep out of it now!! I just decided that was enough, no more messing, do the chain and even if it does not sort out the idle it will give piece of mind! I am fairly sure it had jumped 1 tooth any more by all accounts and its bendy valve time!!
JohnnyN Well done mate. I don't know how many more times that we have to hear the same old story about Vauxhall giving the all clear on the oil jet? Vectra B 2.2 is fitted with old style oil jet PERIOD!!

ANDYSHELL Sorry to hear that "drakey" glad its all sorted, Johnny M, it is an astra coupe so I think we can say the same about their oil jets as well, registered 31/10/01!! I actually asked Vauxhall twice and they said dont worry!! Ha. 😃
