Looks like a cheap after market jobby or even worse not assembled correctly.
The Sachs are spanner shaped hex tops.
You do expect wear ie struts dropping leaving a gap, but not that much. Every movement of that wheel will in effect have the first 1/2" of no shocker at all as it takes up the slack. You will hear it clunking as well.
