Mine don't sound right (Video Clip)

My timing chain does not sound right some times. It's ok in the mornings, when I come back from work I park up for about 1 hour, then get ready to nip out to the shops but when starting it up it's got rattle coming from the timing chain area. The exact words my girlfriend said was "it sounds like a diesel" :? . How come I only get it now and again what.. , it also did this yesterday about the same time.

:shock: That does not sound good mate 🙁 , I would get it round to vauxhall and get them to diagnose what it is asap.

the vauxhall dealer rond mine want £60 to check it and £400 to supply and fit a new one :shock:

They should be able to diagnose what it is without stripping it all down and charging £60, after all they are supposed to be the experts :lol:

Just checked out your clip m8! does sound a bit ruff, as Ive said in previous post mines quite rattley for about 20 secs every time i start it up,speaking to my new best mate tonite the ex VX mechanic. He says the chain, will rattle constantly when its on its way out that includes when driving around,he also said he doesn't no of any secret ID marks or nods and winks anywhere on 2.2s stating nozzle mod or chain renewall work done.but he did say the 2.2 was the best lump VX had ever produced.Anyway i would nt pay VX £400 to do mine! I'd sooner nail my own tongue to the floor.

That doesnt sound good. I wouldnt even use it unless going to vxl with it!

I know a good friend at Vauxhall who has done a lot of work on my astra and he says the same as your mate above. :?

It's ok again now notsure.gif :lol: . The audio is sensitive on the phone so it will probably sound worse than it is :roll: . I don't understand why it comes and goes for a short time. It sometimes sounds like a slight slack chain but goes away 😛

Mark the chain on my old 2.2 used to do the same thing. Somethimes when you started it, it would be fine but other times it would rattle, hot or cold. It did get worse though and in the end i replaced it along with the balance shatf chain.
