The Weapon R (Also called Tsudo) header is listed there for around $80,-!!!

Thinking about this winters projects and was looking at the weapon R manifold as it is looking to be the only option in my budget range. Can somebody have a look at the link below as the seems to be two types. The first costs $180.00 the next costs between $70-80 are these cheap copy's of the weapon R? Has anybody purchased the cheaper version?

That's amazing value! I just looked and mine (bought in november) was called "Tsudo 02-04 chevy cavalier sunfire Ecotec 2.2L header" and was $169. Must admit the cheap one doesn't look different at all though.

Thing is, postage cost me $160 - so really I don't know if the £40 saved is worth it if you get something that's not what you want.

If someone could just get an exhaust place to produce a load of the 2:1 sections, there could be a group buy on those $80 headers (and maybe on ally boxes to cover the hole in the boot). It would be such an amazingly cheap performance mod.

Surely that $70 ( :shock: ) one wont need the VX's boot cutting out as it has been tightly turned? Wouldnt you just need a custom downpipe?? Ooh ive got a wallet itch!!

Possibly... not sure. I'd think it's a good idea to cut the boot anyway though. I did the whole thing with my clam still on, which made life much easier.

Also, even with the boot cut-out and proper heat shielding (the original rubber+tin foil heatshield melted), the exhaust makes the clam so hot that the boot steady is too hot to touch sometimes. If the boot side was closer to the header than it is currently, I imagine it might be even worse.

How much did the new shield intrude into the boot space approx? I have seen pics but a measurement would be good.

Just been out to the car, and it's about 6cm, but it's right below the boot catch so it wasn't massively useful space anyway. The tape measure was a bit useless in that pic, but it says 13 inches.

I haven't really noticed the lack of space. I made my hole slightly wider than vocky/luna_s so I can add + remove the manifold with the clam on. The box itself could have been smaller, but it was a bit of a nightmare to bend out of the thickness of ally I had, so I made it bigger than needed as I didn't want to do 2. There is about 1cm of clearance to the edge of the box, but there's a sheet of ally and then glassfibre insulation so it looks to be almost touching.

it won't fit the astra, apparently there is not enough clearance 🙁

I have since made the clam hole much larger, it's now bigger than rabidh's, I also removed the original heat shielding and fitted the same stuff luna_s used (a fibreglass mat covered with tin foil)

I also removed the lagging from the manifold, with the extra air space around the manifold it's now much cooler, I have not had any paint blisters (yet !)

It would fit a Vectra B though ??

Is there much to alter Neil ?

After the lifters are fitted and the engine work is finished (for now :wink🙂 I'd like to sort out a manifold and downpipe to mate to my 2.5" Magnex cat back.

The kinda money the Tsudo's are selling for, they're a gift, and to be honest if I were go to the trouble of making a "Daz" downpipe, it wouldn't be a tremendous amount more to alter the Tsudo and mate that up instead ?

I suppose the more room you can give the manifold the better but I will be doing it with the clam on so will have to cut at least as much as you.
This part dose not worry me after cutting a big hole in the side of a kitcar to allow the exhaust to exit when the shell was painted and finished!

Another question I should ask is did you do this mod in isolation or with other mods? As I wanted to know if you could notice any gains when finished?

If a few people are interested one of the US distributors may give a discount on the exhaust or carriage.

I have e-mailed a few of the suppliers to confirm shipping costs and possible group buy?

when I fitted the weaponR 4-2-1 to my vectra I noticed a good increase in power, so yes it will fit a vecB and yes on it's own it gives a noticeable gain 🙂

Never Enough Auto Accessories are quoting $89 for uk delivery. To get a discount they would want 5 - 10 orders.

Wow. Is that for the $80 one?

It was the first proper engine mod i'd done (apart from pulling out the restrictor in the airbox)...
I didn't touch anything except the exhaust system, but I did fiddle with that a lot... I added a 200 cell cat, 2.5" 180 degree bend, and then opened the standard back box out to 2.5" and more or less gutted the inside of it to increase the airflow. I can't imagine after all that effort you wouldn't want to do the same though...

I definitely noticed more power 🙂 I have no real idea in bhp terms, but the torque was better. It was wet, but I put my foot down out of a 30 once and managed to spin my wheels in 3rd 😃 The noise is now something else too - and I think that adds a lot of enjoyment, if not actual speed 😉

Dont forget that is for the whole system for the Chevy Cavalier - Just the Manifold will be only half the weight surely!?

You'd probably want the original 2:1 section so you can cut the flange out of it. Me and vocky (and probably luna_s too) re-used the Y-piece too, and there's a second flange that might well come in handy too.

Do you have any pics of the weapon R fitted to your Vectra Neil ?

I emailed about postage to the UK, and was quoted $83 UPS to Canada ?????

I've replied pointing out the Cornwall is still in the UK, and asked for another quote :roll:
